Preschool Curriculum

 Preschool Curriculum:

Learn, Grow, Play Preschool curriculum is designed with play as the main focus. I believe that play is the foundation for learning and development in young children. Through play, children can develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills in a fun and engaging way. Here are some key areas of focus:

1. Language and Literacy:

Language and literacy are important parts of our play-based curriculum. Children will engage in storytelling, rhyming, and singing activities to develop their language skills. They will also have access to a variety of books and materials to encourage a love of reading. Children will learn the alphabet, basic phonics, and how to write their names.

2. Math and Science:

Math and science can be fun and exciting through play. Children will have opportunities to explore numbers, shapes, and patterns through games and activities. They will also engage in hands-on science experiments and nature exploration to learn about the world around them.

3. Creative Arts:

Creative arts are an important part of our curriculum. Children will have access to a variety of materials to express themselves creatively, such as paints, play dough, and crafts. They will also engage in music and movement activities to develop their creativity and self-expression.

4. Social and Emotional Development:

Play is a great way to develop social and emotional skills. Children will engage in cooperative play, sharing, and turn-taking activities to develop their social skills. They will also learn about emotions and how to express themselves in a healthy way.

5. Physical Development:

Physical development is an important part of our curriculum. Children will have opportunities to engage in gross motor activities, such as running, jumping, and climbing, to develop their physical skills. They will also engage in fine motor activities, such as drawing and cutting, to develop their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.

Overall, my preschool curriculum provides a fun and engaging learning experience for young children. With a solid foundation in language and literacy, math and science, creative arts, social and emotional development, and physical skills, your child will be well-prepared for their academic journey. Join today and give your child the gift of a strong foundation.

Why is play important?

Play is an essential component of early childhood education, particularly in a preschool setting. It represents a wonderful opportunity for children to engage in exploration, creativity, and learning, all in an enjoyable and stimulating manner. I believe play is not merely a break from studies, but rather a vital part of the learning process. Through play, children develop a range of social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills that are critical to their growth and development.

In a preschool setting, play must be child-centered and child-directed. I believe children should be free to select their activities and playmates, while I am there to act as a facilitator rather than an overseer. This approach fosters creativity, independence, and problem-solving skills, as children learn to make choices, negotiate, and resolve conflicts independently.

Play must also be developmentally appropriate, meaning that it should be tailored to the age and abilities of the children. For example, younger children may benefit from sensory play, such as finger painting or playdough. In comparison, older children may be more interested in imaginative play, such as pretending to be firefighters or doctors.

Furthermore, play must be inclusive and diverse, permitting children from various backgrounds and abilities to participate and feel valued. I will provide a range of materials and activities that reflect the diversity of their students, including books, toys, and games that feature people of different races, cultures, and abilities.

In conclusion, play is not just an entertaining activity for children, but a critical aspect of their learning and development. In a preschool setting, play must be child-centered, developmentally appropriate, and inclusive, enabling children to explore, create, and learn in a safe and supportive environment.

All About Me

Hello! I'm Ms. Ashley, and I'm thrilled to introduce myself. I am a proud mother to four beautiful girls and we enjoy spending time together and playing with our dog Duke. We love to play, watch movies, travel, and be with each other. I have always been passionate about working with children and have spent my entire career doing so. I have worked with some special needs friends, and have worked as a preschool teacher at Giant Steps Preschool and KidStop daycare. Additionally, I have been a stay-at-home mom. My ultimate dream has always been to own my own preschool, and to pursue this dream, I went back to school at UVU to complete my degree in Early Childhood Education. I am thrilled to help your children learn, grow, and play together.
